Medowie Residence

Completed in 2018, the Medowie residence was designed to respond thoughtfully to both site and climate. The form steps gently with the natural slope of the block, allowing for a series of skillion roofs, high raked ceilings, and highlight windows that draw natural light deep into the interior. Highlight windows and louvres also enhance solar access and encourage effective cross ventilation throughout the home.

Generous eaves, considered orientation, and polished concrete floors contribute to passive thermal comfort, helping the home stay cool in summer and retain warmth in winter.
Large windows and sliding doors create a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces while framing views of the adjoining bush reserve. The plan is both functional and flexible, featuring four bedrooms, a dedicated office, two living areas, and a triple garage. A walk-through mudroom from the garage leads directly into a central kitchen, where a built-in fishtank provides a unique point of interest.

A carefully balanced palette of contrasting materials and textures, inside and out, paired with thoughtful detailing ensures both visual interest and long-term durability. Working closely with the builder throughout, the project was delivered within budget while achieving a balance of performance, comfort, and future flexibility.
